Safe Haven

He holds out his arms,
Inviting my body towards his.
I let out a held breath,
As his arms wrap around my shoulders.

I feel the stubble on his chin
Even through my hair.
And his necklace feels cool
Against my burning cheek.

My eyes closed,
I feel safe here.
Just stay like this a moment longer.
God, please don’t let this end.

But he lets go

And with a wink, walks away.
And I’m left wanting more.
